The Dulux Let's Colour Awards

It all started when I entered a competition on twitter with @duluxuk to win two tickets to the Dulux Let's colour awards! To my complete surprise and delight, I actually won (and I never EVER win anything!!)

The Dulux Let's Colour Awards is a celebration of colour, and how it enhances our lives and surroundings. The categories are best use of colour in:

Homes and Interiors
Fashion and Beauty
Technology and Design
The Arts
The Guardian Camera Club Photography Competition
Colour Ambassador
Colour Moment of the Year
Contribution to colour

All the nominations were amazing- full of imagination, spirit, and of course, COLOUR! I did have a favourite though, which was winner of best use of colour in Homes and Interiors: the Triptych Stacks from Curiousa & Curiousa The designer, Esther Patterson designs and creates free blown, bespoke glass lighting. The collection shown takes it's colour inspiration from Morocco and Asia. I love the shapes and colours she has used, and I can wait to use these lights in some of my interiors!

The winner of Colour Ambassador of the year was Alex Box- Creative director of the cult make-up brand Illamasqua, for her inspirational and bold use of colour, which inspires people to express themselves with the use of colour. After the awards ceremony, we all went downstairs to the winners gallery for drinks and canapés. This was definitely the highlight of the night, Alex's winners stand was an interactive display where you could throw 'colour' at the white face on the screen creating different rainbow effects, depending on who was throwing the colour! Alex was also kind enough to pose for a photo with me, she's so lovely!

The winner of best use of colour in Technology & Design was the Flaster Concrete Tiles by IVANKA These colourful tiles can be fitted together in almost any combination, giving the buyer the chance to express themselves through their choice of colour and pattern.

Below you will see my bestie, Stephanie showing us the tiles :)

One of the best people I met was the lovely Maxine Loader from Dulux who took me under her wing, and introduced me to everyone! She was so friendly and gave me lots of handy social media and networking tips. Thanks, Maxine!

And finally, I got the chance to meet Hillary Alexander, who hosted the awards, I accosted her outside (after some encouragement from Maxine) for a cheeky photo! All in all it was an amazing and inspirational evening, thanks Dulux!
