DIY Chair Makeover!

 Hey Everyone! So today I've been very busy, giving a tired old chair a lovely new look! When we moved into our new flat we didn't really have any furniture, so a lot of our stuff has been donated by our lovely family :) My Aunt gave us a pair of cute armchairs, but as they had been stored in her garage for a while they were a little faded, so I thought I would try to re-cover them. This was a complete disaster, and one of the chairs ended up looking like a child's badly wrapped Christmas present... Ok, re-covering chairs is CLEARLY not a talent of mine, so I had to think of something else. I found some upholstery spray paint called 'Simply Spray' on amazon so I thought I would give that a try instead, and it actually turned out quite well! The only criticism I have of the spray paint is that there is not enough paint in one can, for a small chair like mine I would recommend two cans to give a good enough coverage, as mine is a little patchy, and I didn't manage to paint the bottom of the cushion, so I will probably order another can to finish it off. Here's how I did it- let me know what you think! 

First: The essentials! You will need your upholstery paint colour of choice, as well as masking tape and a face mask to protect you from the fumes.

First give the chair a quick clean making sure all dust and dirt is off, or the paint won't stick. Then use the masking tape to cover the parts of the chair that you don't want painted. I covered the wooden legs.

Then start spraying. Keep the can about 8-10 inches from the chair to get an even coverage *remember not to do this outside if its windy, the paint will go everywhere*

Well... that's it! Just allow the paint to dry, and accessorise with a nice bright cushion, and you have a lovely new chair on a low budget. The cushion was just £12 from Homesense, and the paint was around £13 from fabricspray.co.uk
