My name is Emily, I call North Leicestershire my home and I blog over at www.recipesandreviews.co.uk. As you might have guessed, I write all about my love of food with a few recipes, restaurant reviews and general foodie musings along the way. It means I’m one of these annoying people who can’t eat their food without Instagram-ing it and spending at least ten minutes choosing a filter. I’ll probably want to take a picture of yours, too.
When I’m not daydreaming about lunch or working 9-5 as an online copywriter, I spend most of my time in my kitchen or at my newly acquired desk. Words cannot describe how excited I was when we recently moved house and there was room for a desk, complete with chair and pretty storage boxes.
I’m really pleased with my blogging space so far, which is made up of a shabby chic style desk from Next and contrasting Charles Eames-esque chair which I stumbled upon on eBay. The yellow file box (which admittedly I’m yet to fill) and cushion are from Ikea. I love mixing bright colours and standout prints with old looking furniture and when the nights drawer in I plan to find a quirky metal desk lamp. For now, I’m lucky enough that the large window is a brilliant source of natural night.
And on to the kitchen… My favourite pieces so far include there carnival style tea, sugar and coffee jars from the Vintage by Hemingway collection and some olive oil tins from Portugal. I do love my Cath Kidston but I thought these were great for creating a mismatched print feel for a more unisex kitchen. I do let my boyfriend cook sometimes…
I’m also in the process of cultivating some fresh basil and coriander plants, which are growing okay (ish) so far. For spices I’m more impatient with, some Pinterest inspiration lead me to have a go at labelling my spice jars with some pretty vintage style stickers. I’m also in a love hate relationship with my Kenwood Chef, which I often use in baking, pasta making and the occasional loaf of bread.
A note from Emily May-- Thanks so much for letting us have a little peek into your life, Emily! For more delicious recipes and other foodie inspiration, don't forget to check out Emily's blog: www.recipesandreviews.co.uk xxxx
